Induction Bends

Large-diameter, heavy-wall hot induction bends on European-make Schäfer machines.

Overview

RFSS operates high-precision hot induction bending equipment able to form large-diameter, heavy-wall pipe with close dimensional control. A single continuous induction bend can replace several welded elbows, which reduces weld count, inspection scope and potential failure points across a piping system.

Each bend is produced under controlled induction heating with reversible cooling and CNC-governed feed, with angular tolerance held to ±0.01° and verified at inspection against code.

Product range

  • Hot induction bends
  • 3D CNC bends
  • Tight-radius bends
  • Large-diameter bends

Other facilities

  • Induction heating
  • Reversible cooling
  • Heat-treatment furnace
  • Water-quenching facilities

Manufacturing process

  1. Pipe preparation

Pipe selected and prepared against the bend drawing, with heat number carried forward.

  2. Induction heating

A narrow band of the pipe is heated by the induction coil as the pipe is fed through.

  3. Controlled bending

CNC-governed feed forms the bend to the specified radius and angle.

  4. Reversible cooling

Cooling is controlled as the bend leaves the heated zone.

  5. Inspection

Dimensional and angular checks against the code and project specification.

  6. Integration

Bends move directly into spool fabrication, or ship as stand-alone components.

Applications

  • Large-diameter process and power piping
  • Heavy-wall pipe where tight-radius or 3D geometry is required
  • Replacing multiple welded elbows with one continuous bend
  • Bends supplied directly into RFSS spools

Quality controls

  • Angular tolerance ±0.01°, verified at inspection
  • Heat-number traceability carried through bending
  • Inspection against code and project specification
  • Mechanical and chemical testing in RFSS laboratories
